FAQ of IHEP Maillist Users

1. What is Maillist URL?

2. How to create a Maillist?

To create a Maillist, you need to provide Maillist name and other relevant information to Maillist system administrator. The system administrator will create and provide it to you for use. Related parameters may be configured by the Maillist administrator according to the actual condition.

3. How does a new member subscribe or cancel a Maillist? 

If you want to subscribe a Maillist, please click the name of the Maillist. Please input your mailbox address and the access password of the Maillist in “How to subscribe a Maillist” column and click “Subscribe” button. View your mail and click corresponding link in it. After you confirm the entered information is correct, you may click “Subscribe a Maillist” button to complete the application for a new member of this Maillist. After the Maillist administrator receives the mail and approves it, you will become a member of this Maillist. 

If you want to cancel this Maillist, please click the corresponding Maillist name, click "Cancellation or edition option" in "Subscriber" column, input your mailbox address and click "Cancel subscription" button. You will receive a confirmation mail. You may cancel the subscription by clicking the link in the mail. Another method: click "Login" button after you have input your mailbox address and personal password, tick "Yes, I do want to cancel the subscription" and then click "Cancel subscription".

4. What if you forget your password? 

Click "Cancellation or edition option" in "Subscriber" column, input your mailbox address and click "Prompt" button. If you are a member of the Maillist, your password will be sent to your mailbox.

5. How to modify your personal password? 

Click "Cancellation or edition option" in "Subscriber" column, input your mailbox address and personal password and click "Login" button. Make modification in "Modify your password" column.

6. How to modify your personal options? 

Click "Cancellation or edition option" in "Subscriber" column, input your mailbox address and personal password and click "Login" button. Modify your personal options in "Your subscription options".

7. How to query a Maillist member? 

Please click the corresponding Maillist name, input your mailbox address and personal password in "Input your address and password in order to access subscriber list" under "Subscriber" column, and click "Access subscriber list" button. In this way, you may query the Maillist member you subscribe.

8. How to query mail archiving information of Maillist?

For the sake of security, Maillist system has set every Maillist archive in a private state. Only the Maillist member can view it. A Maillist member can acquire mail archiving information only after he inputs his password. 

Method for acquiring personal password: Click Maillist name, then click "Mail archiving", input mailbox address and click "Remind" button. If you are a member of this list, your personal password will be sent to your mailbox. 

After you input your mailbox address and personal password, you may acquire corresponding Maillist information, including mail archiving information.
