Application for the AFS account

Every user on the computing platform is subordinate to one or multiple experiments. The user will be authorized by the AFS account to use the computing and storage resources of every experiment. The AFS account application needs to be approved by the experiment leader. The flow of application for an AFS account is shown in the diagram.

The user submits an account application after filling in the required information and selecting the experiment he is subordinate to through ¡°Account application webpage¡± (as shown in Figure 2). The ¡°Experiment leader¡± will receive a user application mail. The computer center may create an account for the user only after the leader replies with an ¡°Approve user¡¯s application¡± mail. After the AFS account is created, the user will receive an email notice about the account name and password as well as the corresponding user manual.

•  Note:
  (1) The entered user email address must be valid. After the account application is approved, the user will receive an email notice, including username and the initial password for login. All the future notices about the computing platform will be sent to this mail address.
  (2) Please enter ¡°User type¡± according to the actual condition. Different user type is associated with different valid term of the account.
  (3) After the user logging in the computing platform for the first time, please immediately use the ¡°kpasswd¡± command to change the password.
  (4) For the security of the personal account, a strong password format is required. The computing platform specifies a user password shall have 8 digits at least and must contain at least two letters or numeral or special characters. The passwords not meeting the above requirements will not be accepted by the system.
  (5) The valid term of a user password is 254 days. On the 30th day, 7th day and 2n day before the expiration of the password, the user will receive mail notification three times respectively. Please modify the password before the final deadline. Otherwise, user¡¯s account will be automatically blocked and cannot be used normally.
  (6) If the email address of the user account is changed, please contact the computer center in time to update it.
